About Fowey
Fowey is situated near the mouth of the River Fowey. It lies between Mevagissey and Looe and its neighbouring town, Polruan is situated across the estuary. Rich in maritime history as far back as Henry IV, Fowey is considered one of the most picturesque fishing ports on Cornwall’s south coast. Well known thriller writer, Daphne du Maurier resided most of her life at nearby Polridmouth Cove. Her life in Cornwall influenced some of her greatest works such as Jamaica Inn. She now has a festival held in her honour which attracts enthusiasts and influential literary figures from all over.
Fowey has everything for a perfect relaxing holiday. Enjoy browsing the wonderful shops and delis filled with local produce or just while away some time on the harbour front with some Cornish ice cream and watch the boats come and go.
Enjoy a gentle stroll along the beautiful coastal path from sandy Readymoney Cove, which is just a 10 minute walk from Fowey, and discover empty beaches and hidden coves along the way. Fowey is also ideally situated to visit the Eden Project and see the tall ships moored at the nearby harbour village of Charlestown.
