Places to eat in Fowey

Here are some of our favourite places to eat in Fowey - many get booked up in the summer, so we recommend making a reservation to avoid disappointment!

The Fowey Hotel, The Esplanade – 01726 832551

Very upmarket hotel with fantastic views of the river. Table d’hote menu, beer garden, bar snacks. We took our three children to The Fowey Hotel to celebrate a birthday and the food and service is second to none. The staff even organised a birthday cake at a very reasonable cost.

Food For Thought, Town Quay – 01726 832221

Very intimate restaurant with a very good menu. There is also heated outdoor seating should weather permit! We have eaten here on several occasions and have never been disappointed.

The Galleon Inn, 12 Fore Street – 01726 833014

Great value pub meals and a superb choice of local ales. Occasional live music. We have eaten at The Galleon quite a lot. The menu is extensive and it is ideal for families. Very large portions!

King of Prussia, Town Quay – 01726 833694

The King of Prussia overlooks Fowey estuary. Good quality bar food made with local produce.

The Red Herring, 38 The Esplanade - 01726 833693

Drinks, coffees, brunch, antipasti, pizza. Good music. The kids have had many takeaway pizzas from The Red Herring – they are made to order and are delicious.

Sam’s, 20 Fore Street – 01726 832273

Rock music themed restaurant. Fresh local food served in a lively atmosphere. Just turn up as reservations cannot be made. The whole family like eating at Sam’s and the ‘Scooby Burger’ needs to be seen to be believed! New cocktail bar upstairs.

The Ship Inn, Trafalgar Square – 01726 832230

Traditional Cornish pub with real ales, good food and friendly atmosphere. We ate here on New Year’s Eve 2008 and the food was great. The staff were all dressed up as the Spice Girls and it was a fun place to be.
